Meet William
William Ka Lam Nguyen is a histologist, award-winning photographer, and visual artist whose work transforms ordinary biological tissues into compelling works of art. William holds a Master of Science degree and a Scientist in Histotechnology certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology. William currently works as a Senior Research Technologist at the Pathology Core Facility and the Mouse Histology and Phenotyping Laboratory within the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University, where he specializes in advanced histological, molecular, and imaging technologies that support a broad range of biomedical research.
Beyond the laboratory, his passion lies in artistic photomicrography. By combining scientific precision with artistic vision, he seeks to present histology not only as a scientific discipline, but also as a source of beauty, creativity, and aesthetic expression. His photomicrographs have been featured in publications and image competitions.
Founded in 2026, Journeys in Histology is William's invitation to discover a world where science and art converge. Through this collection, he hopes to share the hidden beauty of biological tissues while also highlighting the vital contributions of histotechnologists—professionals whose work is essential to research, diagnosis, and patient care, yet often remains underappreciated.
